PUEBLO, Colo. (July 17, 2009) - The top 40 bull riders invaded The Sooner State for the 2009 U.S. Border Patrol Invitational presented by Express and River Spirit Casino.  The world’s best riders took on the toughest bulls in the country in Tulsa’s brand-new BOK Center for stop #23 of the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour.  In the end, world no. 1 bull rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) took home the round one win after riding the bull, Neon Ghost, owned by Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls/Bryan Smith, for 88.5 points.  Lostroh pocketed $7,000 for his efforts.

Young gun Skeeter Kingslver (Mclouth, Kan.) took second place when he scored 88 points on the bull, Legacy, owned by Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls/Bryan Smith.  Taking third place was Georgia cowboy Sean Willingham (Summerville, Ga.) who scored 87.75 points on Hebert Bucking Bulls’ What I Say, while 2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) took fourth after riding Life Sentence, owned by 5G Farms Bucking Bulls/Superior Genetics, for 87.5 points.  Rounding out fifth place was Dustin Elliott (North Platte, Neb.) who received a score of 87 points on the bull, Gringo Honeymoon, owned by Jerry Nelson, Jr.

Due to his round two win at the Ford F-150 Invitational, Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the U.S. Border Patrol Invitational. Briscoe did not make the eight second whistle after taking on the bull, Chick’N Fried; therefore, stock contractors, H&D Bucking Bulls/Huff, took home the $5,000 bonus.

The U.S. Border Patrol Invitational presented by Express and River Spirit Casino continues tomorrow as the top 40 bull riders in the world compete to see who will take home the coveted event title. Catch all of the action when VERSUS’ airs the event on Saturday, August 1 at 6 p.m. EST.

Just got an email from PBR NOW with the subject line telling me that Kody won!
Gee thanks...VS is not airing the boarder event until August 1st!
I didn't want to know the out come until I got to watch....
Now you have ruined it for me....

As others said...I pay extra for VS just so I can see the Bulls and the Riders...
    GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!!!

I hope the PBR is listening to it's fans.It is such crap when you pay extra on your cable bill, just to get the versus channel to watch the PBR, NOT hockey and NOT boys peddling bikes and that's what you get. If the PBR wants to keep me as a fan somebody better get there act together. You need to show ALL live events and go to different areas, including Georgia( GO SEAN). We waited all this time to watch and we get to watch it NEXT MONTH. Your going to start losing all your fans, like nascar if you don't wake up and fix this problem.

Also, with everyone, except maybe Guskobe, has dvrs and can record the Tour.Twice a day should be sufficient Tour coverage. I catn believe they cant figure ou how to put 2 hours of the PBR on. This should be easy !

Im a cycling fan, but the coverage of the Tour is overkill. Iwas even glued to versus during the Amgen tour. What is going to happen is the casual PBR fan will lose intrest and not return to watching on Sat and Sun. So close to the finals this is rediculous. The Pbr shoul move the long break so it all happens during the tour if no other comprmise can be reached with Versus. Randy Bernard needs to show some b a l l s and do something to get it right. Hes the young genious the PBR keeps touting as the CEO wonderkin. Figure it out Big Boy and just do the right thing!!!!!!

texastom: Yes, the "About the PBR" paragraph says we have 100 million+ viewers per year. It also says there are 450 hours of prime time coverage. If you figure two hours per broadcast, that's 225 broadcasts (the PBR's figure must include reruns, 'cuz we sure don't get that many original, live broadcasts!). 100 million divided by 225 broadcasts gives about 440,000 viewers per broadcast. The Tour de France has been drawing audiences a little larger than that, according to the news reports I've read.

I get that you and everyone wants to see the PBR. I do too, believe me! I just don't get the level of vitriol directed toward cycling...

Just confused,PBR says they have 90 to 100 mil people that veiw bull riding each year, and they shut us out from watching it live, must be alot of folks that like THE FREAKING TOUR de FRANCE.I'm not one of them, but I will have to keep up with the Tulsa event via the internet then, sure hope they fix this some time soon. PBR is great, but they sure could improve on some things.

I agree. The Tour De France doesn't even fit with the programming on Verses. The average viewer on Versus watches MMA fighting, Bull Riding and Hunting...How does sissy bike riding in France preempt any regular programming?

Absolutely disgusting. Why watch if you already know the results. Sure I'd like to see Lance
Armstrong win another Tour but watching it is totally boring. I'll probably be watching
something else on 8/1. Not happy but I'm just a dedicated fan and apparently that doesn't
matter anymore. Thanks for the consideration.

I too feel it's a shame. We have Directtv and still don't get to watch the PBR live. We live for the weekends and bull riding. We've talked about starting a writing campaign to Versus and the PBR to see if we can't get the Friday night round on TV also. Sounds like I have some letter writing to do. I think Cycling (the Tour De France) is what interfers with the broadcasting. Versus needs a secondary channel that allows us to watch the PBR live and all three roounds.

I too have Dish and we also get VS as a basic channel. It doesn't change the fact we won't get the July 17-19th until the first weekend of August. It is sad that the PBR has come so far and Vs still treats them like the bridesmaid. It seems like a long break and we were really looking forward to the start of the final rounds before Vegas. Now knowing we have to continue to wait to see it is annoying.Come on PBR find a network that gives you the time you deserve!

Way to go Sean Willingham! I have been a huge fan of his for a really long time, I think it's about time he shows everyone he's Champion material! Good Luck in round 2~

GREAT GOING KODY . IT IS SUCH A SHAME THAT WE PAY FOR DISH TV AND CAN'T WATCH THE PBR LIVE. MY MY HUSBAND DOESN'T CARE IF HE EVEN WATCHS PBR ANYMORE AND WE HAVE WATCHED FOR YEARS. EVEN CHANGED FROM DISH TO DIRECT WHEN DISH DROPED OLN. ANYWAY I AM PULLING FOR KODY TO WIN THE TITLE THIS YEAR.
