ONTARIO, Calif. (September 27, 2009) - The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) took the world’s best bull riders to The Golden State of California for stop no. 28 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) tour.  The toughest bulls the PBR had to offer tested the top 40 riders as they invaded Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., on September 26-27.  In the end, current world no. 1 bull rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) took the Dickies Invitational event title after riding top bull, Troubadour, owned by Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls, for 91.75 points.  This is Lostroh’s fifth win of the 2009 BFTS season and his third win in California.  He was one of only three men to ride all three of his bulls over the weekend where he totaled 265.25 points and added a check for $41,373 to his bank account.

“I think the California government is setting this up so they can tax me—kind of like a California stimulus plan,” the no. 1 rider in the world joked in the winner’s circle.  “Seriously though, right now, I’m trying not to think a lot about the World Championship race.  If I’m looking back, I can’t look forward to where I want to go.  I’m just trying to do my job and let the judges figure out who the winner is.”

In round one, Lostroh finished in a split for sixth and seventh place after riding the bull, Shaggy, owned by Hyland Cattle Company, for 85.5 points.  He claimed the round two victory after taking on the bull, Devil’s Night of 4C’s Bucking Bulls/Marvin Nixon, for 88 points, giving him a total of 173.5 points and putting him in first place on two bulls.  He entered the Built Ford Tough Championship Round draft with the no. 1 pick and chose to ride a familiar foe, Troubadour, who he has teamed up successfully with three times in his career—twice in 2009 and he collected event wins at both.  Lostroh covered the top bull for 91.75 points, winning not only the Championship Round, but also the Dickies Invitational event title.

“That bull (Troubadour) bucks really hard every time and he doesn’t give you time to think about it,” Lostroh said.  “He did a big fake to the left, went back to the right, and it really worked out.  This is the third time I’ve had him and he’s been great every time.”

2008 PBR World Champion Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) took second place after riding all three of his bulls for 257.25 points, collecting a check for $14,388.  Taking third place was LJ Jenkins (Texico, N.M.) who scored 252.5 points over the weekend, riding for a check for $9,819.  This was the fourth of the last five events that Jenkins has placed in the top 3 standings of the event.  Jenkins’ cousin, Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) took fourth after scoring 174 points and collecting a check for $7,783 while back-flipping Brazilian Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) rounded out fifth place with 172.75 points and added $5,563 to his 2009 earnings.

The race for PBR’s 2009 million dollar world title is getting down to the wire and the top 40 bull riders in the world are heading to Oregon for the GoDaddy.com Invitational, stop no. 29 on the prestigious BFTS tour.  PBR will buck into Portland’s Rose Garden Arena on October 2-3, showcasing the best bull riders and the toughest bulls in the country.  The VERSUS network airs PBR events every Saturday and Sunday evening.  Be sure to check www.pbrnow.com for upcoming cities, ticket information, and complete broadcast times.

INJURY REPORT:
Elliott Jacoby
(Fredericksburg, Texas) suffered a concussion in the Built Ford Tough Championship Round.  He is probable for the event in Portland, Ore.

Travis Sellers (Wentzville, Mo.) broke his thumb during Saturday night’s competition.  He is competing.

Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Okla.) broke his jaw on Saturday night.  As of now, surgery is not required, but he was waiting further evaluation to see if it is necessary.  He is questionable for next weekend’s event in Oregon.

BEHIND THE CHUTES:
Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s “Ride with the Best” Bonus:

Due to his round two win at last weekend’s PFIWestern.com Invitational presented by Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Mo., J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C.) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus during round one of the Dickies Invitational.  Because he did not make the eight second whistle on the bull, Chili, the stock contractor, Flying U/Cindy Rosser Bucking Bulls, took home the $5,000 bonus.

Due to his round one win at the Dickies Invitational, 2009 Daisy Rookie of the Year contender Elliott Jacoby (Fredericksburg, Texas) was eligible to compete for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best) bonus during round two of the Ontario event.  Jacoby made the eight second whistle on his re-ride bull, White Lies, owned by Ryan McClure; therefore, he collected the $5,000 bonus.

As the winner of round two at the Dickies Invitational, Team Enterprise rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) will be eligible for the bonus during round one at the 29th BFTS stop in Portland, Ore.

Ford Truck Moment of Truth Bonus:
Kody Lostroh
(Longmont, Colo.) was in the lead going into the Built Ford Tough Championship Round and won the Dickies Invitational and collected the $10,000 bonus.  The bonus will be $5,000 at the next event in Portland, Ore.  The event grows by $5,000 each week if it is not claimed.  Once claimed, it returns to $5,000.

Ford F-150 Challenge:
As the event winner of the Dickies Invitational, Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) has qualified for a chance to participate as a Ford F-150 Challenge contestant at the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals, against all other 2009 Built Ford Tough Series event winners who qualify for the Finals.  The Ford F-150 Challenge contestant who finishes the highest in the event aggregate during the 2009 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals will win $50,000 towards the purchase of a brand-new 2009 F-150 truck.

Salem NationaLease Bull of the Event:
The bull, Lone Star, owned by Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls/Bar None, earned Bull of the Event honors with a score of 46 points.  This honor is acknowledged by an award of $1,250 going to the top bull of each event as determined by the PBR judges’ bull score.

High-Marked Ride of the Event:
Current no. 1 bull rider Kody Lostroh (Longmont, Colo.) recorded the high-marked ride of the Dickies Invitational in Ontario, Calif., during the Built Ford Tough Championship Round after riding the bull, Troubadour of Julio Moreno Bucking Bulls for 91.75 points.

Daisy Rookie of the Year Standings:
The 2009 Daisy Rookie of the Year race is getting too close to call and as of stop no. 28 on the BFTS tour, Tennessee cowboy Cody Nance (Paris, Tenn.) still holds the lead while “The Royal Solution” Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclouth, Kan.) and young Aussie Pete Farley (Kempsey, AUS) are right on his heels.  A rider is considered a rookie in the year he debuts on the elite Built Ford Tough Series tour.  The Daisy Rookie is determined by the rider who has won the most money during the year at all PBR events including Challenger events, International events, BFTS events, and the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals.

Webmaster - thanks so much for taking the time to give us that information.
I will look into those issues and hopefully that will fix the problem. It
is nice to see that the PBR cared enough to respond to a problem I am having.

RunHossRun, pbrfan??, and rebeccagre71: From what I've observed on this site, after an event is over, they post a press release (with basic information and stats) and an article that focuses on the event winner (which usually mentions other major story lines of the event as well, as this week's does in mentioning Marchi's move back to #2). More articles are usually posted throughout the week, but so far, only those two have been posted this week. Maybe KRC will do an article on Marchi this week, maybe not...but it seems to me a little premature to start complaining bright and early on Monday morning that Marchi doesn't yet have an article devoted to him.
  • rebeccagre71
    September 28, 2009
I, too agree with RunHossRun - Where is the write up about Marchi climbing back into the
number 2 spot? A few weeks ago, Marchi was nearly dismissed of being a contender for a
second title. Now, he has gotten his groove back and is riding well again, but you wouldn't
know that because there are no featured articles on the home page. Not to diminish the accomplishments of any other rider in the PBR, but I guess columnists have their little
    darlings...

    TWTX and ALL:

PBR.TV is working, however there are several items that can cause problems, and I have listed them below:

    1) Internet cache/temp files - these should be cleaned out periodically to ensure the most update pages are being loaded. If you are unsure how to do this, consult the help option for your particular browser.

    2) Operating system and Browser updates - make sure you are up to date on all the updates available for your compter. This includes any operating system updates, browser updates as well as updates to the browser add-ons/plug-ins such as the Flash player. This will ensure that you have the most recent software available on your computer to have the best viewing experience.

    3) Connection speed - ensure that your Internet connection speed/bandwidth is adequate for the site. PBR.TV is a very bandwidth intensive site, and slower connections may have issues always loading the content properly. Even on DSL/Cable connections, your connection speed may greatly fluctuation from day to day, depending upon location, network conditions and many other factors. You can search Google for speed tests to run on your Internet connection to verify that you have a good speed - it would be ideal to run this speed test when you find that you are unable to view the videos on PBR.TV.

    4) Other programs running - on some systems, having other programs running in the background can cause issues - ensure that only your web browser is running while watching PBR.TV

These are just some general tips that can help make a difference in viewing PBR.TV - you can also feel free to send an email to webmaster@pbrnow.com at the time you experience trouble with any of our sites, and we will look into it right away.

    Thank-you ~

    I a gree RunHossRun,
We didn't see an article on Marchi over taking Mauney,...and when Mauney took a leap over Marchi, man at every little thing on PBR site, there is an article,.. and maybe PBR is making it a big deal out of it and lots of PBR fans are a little tired of hearing Mauney this, Mauney that,..

Maybe best to keep Marchi winning a hush, hush and he'll keep winning,..and I do like Marchi for a bak2bak,...

TWTX: I just checked and was able to see commercials (the filfthy Danica Patrick one, YUCK) and the first few seconds of both the Iron Cowboy press conference and one of Flint's clips. So it appears to be working for me.

I'll say this, though...if I have to sit through that filthy godaddy.com commercial every time I go to pbr.tv, you'd better believe I won't be watching anything posted there anytime soon.

also said pbrtv was down during the weekend.

Ahhh....all is right with the world again, Kody Lostroh is back to his winning ways!!! It was nice to hear Kody talk about meeting with Gary Leffew, and getting some coaching from him. And it sure looks as though they figured out exactly what was wrong! I guess that proves that even the best sometimes need someone to point out what they are doin wrong. This is going to be one heck of a race...and an awsome finals. Will be cheering for KODY ALL THE WAY! But if Kody doesnt win, I'd like to see Marchi win back-to-back....

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE GUYS!

This was a fun event to watch! My favorites rode fairly well, we got to see another great matchup between Lostroh and Troubadour for the event title, it seemed like there were more rides overall than we'd been seeing recently, and we even got a few glimpses of Junior Seau. AND there wasn't a controversy! Great to see Lostroh and Marchi back on track after having struggled (by their standards, at least) earlier this fall. I'd love to see them and JB all riding well and healthy heading into the finals (much as I know I'll be grinding my teeth over what's sure to be incessant coverage of the three of them). I'm glad to see Ryan D.'s injury wasn't as bad as it might have been and hope he has a speedy recovery!

I'm excited about getting Ty back in the booth next weekend!

I thought Leah rather rude during her interview with Cody Nance, though. Maybe I saw it wrong, but it looked to me like she interrupted his conversation with Mike Lee, stuck a microphone in his face, and yelled "Hey! Hey! Hey!" when he didn't immediately cut off his conversation with Mike. Glad he ignored her rudeness and answered her questions politely and with good humor.

    WAY TO GO KODY!!!
What an awesome event win for him, just when everyone was counting him out. I
sure hope he is able to continue riding this well. Considering he needs surgery
on his elbow and his shoulder injury, he really stuck it to the bulls this weekend!
Glad to see L.J. still riding so well. Was so happy to see Ryan tonight at the event.
Praying that all the guys with injuries will heal up soon!

I hope that Ryan Dirteater, Elliot Jacoby and everyone else nursing injuries heals fast and avoids further problems. Stay Healthy and Safe Guys. We support you all!!! Linda
