The Men and Women of the Border Patrol serve with vigilance, integrity and pride.

From its very beginning on May 28th 1924, the Border patrol has maintained a reputation for getting the job done by overcoming obstacles and mastering challenges. Protecting the American way of life demands nothing less. Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the primary mission of the Border Patrol has become focused on preventing terrorists and terrorist’s weapons from entering the United States. While the Border Patrol has changed dramatically since its inception over 84 years ago, its legacy mission remains consistent: to deter, detect and apprehend multiple threats at our Nation’s borders. Border Patrol agents perform their duties between the official Ports of Entry along 8,000 miles of land and sea borders. Agents conduct a broad spectrum of enforcement activities each day and use specialized equipment to include: motor vehicles, boats, horse patrols, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and foot patrols. In 2007, Border Patrol Agents arrested 876,704 illegal entrants and seized more than 14,242 lbs of cocaine. Marijuana seizures by Border Patrol agents in 2007 were in excess of 1,859,299 lbs.
